IJN Yamashiro

On the night of October 24/25 October Vice Admiral Nishimura led C Force consisting of the battleships Yamashiro and her sistership Fuso, heavy cruiser Mogami and 4 destroyers into Surigao Straight where they were intercepted by Rear Admiral Jesse Oldendorfs battleline of 6 battleships (5 Pearl Harbor survivors) 8 cruisers, one Australian, 29 destroyers & 45 PT Boats and engaged in the last battleship/battleship duel in history, all of Nishimura's ships were sunk save one destroyer the Shigure, American losses were one PT boat and damage to one destroyer.
